If you follow the rainbow at the end you’ll find a pot of gold. How many of us have been told that story? I am not here to talk about a pot of gold, no I am here to discuss something of far greater value. A Tranquil Treasure, a treasure that fills you from the inside and not from outward things.
Are you Content with the Content of your life? As I look at this word and the spelling “Content” I find it quite intriguing as it is both an adjective and a noun based on the context of its usage. However, I am using this word as a question posed in regard to both aspects, are you Content; adj : fulfilled, at peace, satisfied, rewarded with the life you find yourself living? Are you satisfied with the Content; noun: the sum of who you are as a person, what defines your DNA – how others would describe your character. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. alluded to in his famous speech regarding prejudice “not by the color of their skin, but by the “content” of their character”.
What are you made up of on the inside?
So how does one find a quality of content, the very thing we fill our inner most being up with to define our character, what worthy or noble thing can a person put inside themselves?
Proverbs 3: 13-14 “Blessed is the man who finds Wisdom, the man who gains Understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold”. Proverbs 24:3-4 “By Wisdom a house is Built and through Understanding it is established, by Knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful Treasures” (NIV)
This house we all are building is our lives; our hearts, our minds, our desires, our wills, and our emotions. Spirit, soul, and body the entirety of who and what we are, as well as the lives we impact.
Psalms 1 verse 1 states “Blessed is the man…” for the sake of this article lets define Blessed as “Content” as an adjective ; that which brings “shalom” peace, fulfillment, satisfied, Tranquil, contentment. Jumping down to verse 2 “…his delight is in the law of the LORD (YHWH), and on His law he meditates day and night”. Here we find the great link between Content in Content that is “A Tranquil Treasure”. What we are nourishing ourselves on becomes the very thing of which we are made of. As an old saying goes “you are what you eat”, this doesn’t simply apply to food, but everything we take in through our eyes and ears, as well as our mouths.

As the Word of God (the law, prophets, psalms -The Bible) infills and dwells inside of you, it satisfies and transforms the very character of a person; it becomes the defining Content – the substance inside the container, it also becomes the source that brings the blessing or that satisfying place of being Content – Perfect Peace.
A Tranquil Treasure
In Mathew 4:4 Jesus is quoted as saying “man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that comes from The Mouth of God”.
Psalms 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the Way you should go:”
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only (Word = Jesus) who is at the Father’s side, has made Him known.
So we see this Jesus, The Word of God, God in the flesh He is the eternal everlasting Word. He is what “comes from the Mouth of God”. He is the sole source of our being “Content” He is our perfect Peace and He also alone becomes the “Content” that which fills us and shapes the character of who and how we should be living in this lifetime and in ages to come. He – Jesus – IS Wisdom, and while yes we need to read the Bible He is the very person to which All of scripture points and He desires to have a personal relationship with each and every human being that has ever lived. He is our Peace, He is our great Reward HE IS Our “Tranquil Treasure”.

In the books of Ezekiel 11:19, 32:26, and Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD God declares he would write His Laws and His Words upon hearts of flesh and not upon tablets of stone. Paul gives testimony to this in 2 Corinthians 3:3(c,d) ” written not with ink but with The Spirit of The Living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts.” (NIV)
In chapter 4:7 of the same letter Paul states that “we have “this TREASURE in earthen vessels (Pots or jars of CLAY). This TREASURE is His surpassing greatness and Glory indwelling inside of every believer. “…the Glorious RICHES of this mystery, which is Christ in you The HOPE of Glory.” Colossians 1:27 NIV
Would you invite Him in to your “house” today? Behold He stands at the door and knocks, he isn’t pounding on it, or barging in – No – he is simply and gently patiently waiting for you to invite Him in. To sit and have conversations with you and guide to that place of “A Tranquil Treasure”.
I pray and ask the God of heaven and earth to bless each and everyone of you that reads and hears these words.
