How should a person/people show forth the thankfulness and gratitude for an act of which is so far beyond our understanding or comprehension. The “Act” of which is the Redemptive work of Jesus (Yeshua) on the Cross of Golgotha/Calvary for man’s soul. Restoring us to a Rightful position with The Lord of All Lords and Ancient of Days, The Holy God of Creation, YHWH. Not only did His accomplishment provide a WAY for us to escape a Judgement of [Eternal separation from The Father of Lights and horrible torment]. He by His Grace established for us an adoption, thereby sealing us with His Holy Spirit as joint heirs with our Savior and brother, Christ Jesus our King. To live and dwell in a Glory, that we cannot even imagine. How does one show in return for this Great Love, in loving kindness, a gratitude. I would like to present a “Fragrant Offering” to You My Lord, My God, My Master, MY KING.
Four Things Needed for a Sacrifice: An Offering:
- Wood; we bring it, wood, hay, stubble (things of this world, trappings & enticements)
- Altar; We build it, although it is NOT MADE WITH HANDS
- Sacrifice/Offering; we ARE it
- FIRE; The Lord, HIS GLORY, HIS PRESENCE is IN THE FIRE
In my last article “Threshing Floor & Fire” I briefly discussed the “Wheat” harvest and process of separation of grain from the hull (chaff). Here we will look deeper into the “Grain”
As described in the Book of Leviticus part of the Priestly duties was to perform the service of the Altar.
Leviticus CH. 2
The GRAIN Offering (Represents: Bread/Body-physical; Christ/Church)
Flour; Crushed grain= brokenness/ humility before the Lord [Substance of the Earth-God formed him from the dust of the earth]
Oil; our spirit (soul), and The Holy Spirit
Salt; (tears, sorrow)
Incense; (Prayers, fragrance)
BURN IT ON THE ALTAR AS A MEMORIAL (“Do THIS in Remembrance Me”…Jesus)
AN OFFERING MADE BY FIRE
AN AROMA PLEASING TO THE LORD!
These examples are for us to observe and understand How The Lord desperately wants to have a deeper more personal relationship with Him. It is through these elements we find a way for us to demonstrate not in word alone but as Paul would say to present ourselves therefore as “living sacrifices” which is our reasonable worship, that is; our affection and our gratefulness to Him for what He has done!
As the flour (dust) of grain, mixed with the oil of the Holy Spirit, and with salt of our tears from intercessory prayers (fragrant incense). WE become the Grain Offering.
Jesus, Son of Man. A title, like that of Christ, symbolizes His brotherhood to mankind (grain/dust). Not only was He the “Fellowship Offering” He set for us an example of the Grain Offering thru His “Communion” elements demonstrated in The Garden of Gethsemane, to The Cross. His Offering being Found pleasing and Worthy He is Highly Exalted and is seated at The Right hand of The Father. We are joint-heirs with Him. Therefore we are exceedingly glad and rejoice in the “Fragrant Offering” as we offer ourselves to Him as our High Priest upon the Altar, to be Consumed by His Holy FIRE.
